The Competitive Malta Foundation has announced that, as part of its research activities in relation to local competitiveness, it has published an article on the Euro, the Greek experience and the lessons that can be learnt with a view to sustaining Malta’s competitive position.

This research article, authored by Competitive Malta’s research co-ordinator Bernard Mallia, has been made available to the public for free on the Competitive Malta website http://www.competitivemalta.com and tries to fill in a grey area in applied economics studies with a view to sustaining Malta’s competitive position in the ambit of Malta’s membership in the Eurozone.

As such, the article looks into recent developments in the Greek crisis and the lessons that Malta can learn in order to ensure that Malta retains its economic resiliency and its competitiveness.

Adrian Said, the Chief Coordinator for Competitive Malta said that, "The undertaking of such research and the dissemination of its results is in line with the aspirations of Competitive Malta to be the reference point on policy-related matters associated with making Malta a more competitive place, a place investors can trust and a place where the policy process takes into account recent happenings and tries to draw the lessons that recent happenings impart. As a saying of old had it, wise men learn from history whereas fools learn from experience. Our research is intended to give policy makers the right tools that will enable them to be in the league of the former".
